World Forum Australian resident, Niki Buchan sat down with us in Macao, China back in April 2019 to share her passion for connecting children to nature. Niki, originally from South Africa discussed the healing power of nature, the need to focus on well-being of children before academics, and the importance of advocating for natural learnig environments. She shares that time in nature has numerous benefits such as a child’s presence in natural environments provides appropriate stimulation causing better academic performance, and natural spaces spark curiosity because they are less predictable giving children the opportunities during play to practice and understand risk.
